Our Farm is just under a 100 hectares in extent and was converted to Organic in 2001. It is now one of the Department of Agriculture’s special demonstration farms for the promotion of organic farming.
The farm’s main enterprise is its 55 head Dairy Herd which produces milk for the Glenisk Dairy for the making of Glenisk Organic Yogurt.
All progeny of the dairy herd are retained on the farm of which 15 – 20 % are kept as replacements for the dairy herd and the rest are finished to beef, which we sell direct to the consumer.
We also keep 130 – 150 ewes that lamb early and Mid-season. Currently all lambs are being used in the meat business. We have approximately 15 hectares of tillage that produces feed for the animals on the farm.
Our newest enterprise on the farm is our organic pig unit. We are currently breeding from 6 sows and are using the offspring in the meat business. The pigs are kept outdoors and are feed cereals grown on the farm.
